If you are about to pay a monthly subscription for a WhatsApp chatbot, stop. Meta’s WhatsApp Business AI agent now does the basics, and it’s free to start.
In June 2026, Meta rolled out its Meta Business Agent (also called Meta Business AI) worldwide inside the WhatsApp Business app. It answers customer questions, recommends products, books appointments and hands chats to a human when needed. Meta says over one million businesses were already running a version of it before the global launch.
This changes the maths for every service business that has been paying for a chatbot tool. Here is the plain comparison.
TL;DR
- Want automated replies on WhatsApp? Use Meta’s Business Agent. It is free to start, native to WhatsApp and set up in minutes.
- Want booked, attended appointments and closed sales? Use Superbench. Start with a USD 2,300 two-month pilot (onboarding and subscription included), then pay commission on the sales we close.
What is Meta’s WhatsApp Business AI agent?
Meta Business Agent is an AI assistant built into the WhatsApp Business app. It replies to customers 24/7 in your brand voice. It also runs in Instagram DMs and Messenger.
You set it up under Tools > Meta Business Agent with no coding. It learns from your past chats, and you can add your website, catalogue, FAQs, documents and photos as knowledge sources. You can test it before going live and step in on any chat.
What it does well:
- Answers repeat questions (prices, opening hours, location, services) instantly
- Recommends items from your WhatsApp catalogue
- Books appointments and qualifies leads
- Hands off to a human at a point you define
- Supports multiple languages
What it costs: Free to start in the WhatsApp Business app. Meta has said paid tiers, likely bundled into WhatsApp Business Premium, will follow. Larger businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) pay by usage: about US$2.00 per million tokens, and agent replies there became chargeable on 1 August 2026.
Where it stops: The agent answers inbound messages. In the free app it can’t run follow-up drips or outbound campaigns, sync with your CRM, or track which chats turned into revenue. Connecting to outside systems means building a custom agent on Meta’s enterprise platform.
What is Superbench?
Superbench is a results-as-a-service company for B2C service businesses: home services, tuition and enrichment centres, and aesthetic clinics. We don’t sell chatbot seats. We take responsibility for turning your inquiries into customers who show up and buy, and most of what we earn is commission on those sales.
How it works:
- AI plus human sales, 24/7. AI agents reply in seconds on WhatsApp and other channels. Trained human sales consultants step in to handle objections and close the leads AI can’t.
- Built on your business context. We map your pricing rules, schedules, service areas, objections and SOPs, and keep them current. This is why the AI gives right answers instead of confident wrong ones.
- The full funnel, not the first reply. Qualify, quote, book, remind, follow up, re-engage. The job ends when the customer arrives, not when the chat ends.
- Pilot plus commission. A two-month pilot costs USD 3,000, covering onboarding and the platform subscription. On top of that, we earn commission on the sales we close for you.
Superbench is a Meta Preferred Partner. It runs only on the official WhatsApp Business API and does not mark up Meta’s messaging costs. It is also an Enterprise Singapore EDGE Grant provider and part of the Google startup program.

Why paying a monthly subscription for a chatbot no longer makes sense
For years, small businesses paid a monthly fee for WhatsApp chatbot tools that did three things: answer FAQs, collect a name and number, and send a booking link. Meta now does all three inside WhatsApp, free to start.
If a paid tool only does what Meta does, you are paying for something you can get for nothing. Before you renew, ask your vendor one question: “What do you do that Meta’s Business Agent does not?”
If the answer is “nicer flows” or “a dashboard”, switch to Meta and keep the money. A subscription chatbot charges you whether it books one customer or one hundred. The vendor gets paid either way, so the risk sits with you.
Where chatbots stop and business outcomes start
In a service business, revenue is rarely lost on the first reply. It is lost in the steps after it. A typical inquiry has to pass through six stages before it becomes revenue:
- Reply: answer fast, before the customer messages a competitor
- Qualify: confirm the service, location, budget and timing
- Handle objections: price, trust, “let me think about it”
- Book: lock a slot that actually fits your schedule and staff
- Remind and confirm: cut no-shows for the trial class or appointment
- Follow up and re-engage: win back the leads who went quiet
Meta’s Business Agent covers step 1 well and parts of steps 2 and 4. Steps 3, 5 and 6 are where most leads quietly drop off, and that is where a free chatbot leaves you on your own.
Superbench owns all six steps. AI handles the speed. Human sales consultants handle the judgment calls. Because most of what we earn is commission on your sales, every step is designed around one result: a paying customer at your door.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Meta’s Business Agent if:
- Most of your inquiries are simple, repeat questions
- You have the time to set it up, train it and check its answers yourself
- A missed or slow lead does not cost you much
- You want to stop paying for a subscription chatbot today
Choose Superbench if:
- Each new customer is worth hundreds or thousands in lifetime value (a tuition student, a recurring cleaning client, an aesthetics package)
- Leads ask about pricing, availability and packages that need real business context to answer correctly
- No-shows, slow follow-up and leads going cold are costing you revenue
- You would rather pay commission on real sales than an open-ended software subscription
A simple test: if a lost lead costs you less than a month of chatbot fees, start with Meta. If one lost lead costs you more, talk to Superbench.
